VFM FOCUS ON EDUCATION; 

VFM from its inception, has been keen to ensure that all children are able to get access to inclusive basic education. VFM school was established to support very needy children most of whom were not able to timely enroll in school. Eleven modern classrooms were successfully completed in the year 2018 to offer friendly environments for learning.  Our key Focus at VFM is to improve equitable access to quality education. Our interventions aim to help every needy child under our care to achieve the highest educational standards possible. We also Build knowledge about innovative solutions to share educational policy challenges in Rusinga Island and how positive impacts can be scaled. The other focus of the school was to also help address the overpopulation that has been witnessed in the classrooms in public schools. This therefore mandated the establishment of VFM School. The school classroom design has a maximum capacity of 30 children and an open classroom library. Children are transitioned and supported through to secondary school education. Rusinga Island has been facing food insecurity overtime. It has been noted that children and their families most of the time lack food at home, a school feeding program is therefore very key in improving child retention and active participation in classroom activities since they feel that they will have something in their stomach. The government of Kenya rolled out a new curriculum called Competency Based Curriculum, VFM school is known for their skills in Montessori curriculum delivery, this system matched the new curriculum and therefore VFM is the number 1 CBC implementer. Finally, in order to achieve the education agenda, the school has complete modern 11 classroom, modern ablution block to accommodate boys and girls separately, kitchen and an open dinning hall, a school based health bay, music class, home science class, dressmaking class and also the school has 24/7 clean water provision.
